High Bitrate Ultrasound Data-Transfer Protocol
The ultrasound system had an on-board computer (low spec, small footprint) and an off-board computer. In order to be able to reduce the workload of the on-board computer (so it could acquire faster) the raw data had to be piped to the off-board computer of the ultrasound system. The required bit rate of the transfer protocol often exceeded 2.5Gbit/s.
